INTENSIVE YOGA COURSE

In the October Intensive Yoga Course a student of Usha Devi, Ms. Rujuta Diwekar, famous dietician and author of the bestseller “Don’t lose your mind, lose your weight” brilliantly explained methods to nourish our Annamaya Kosha (the material body that is sustained by food). She explained that proper nourishment enables us to stay in the posture for a longer period of time, which is the goal of practice according to Sage Patanjali (Yoga Sutra 1.13). She also explained that Mitahara, or eating the right food in the right quantity, in the right combination, at the right time energizes the muscles which in turn improves our practice of Yoga. She also gave very helpful tips on lubricating the joints to avoid crackling sounds and pain in the joints.

At the end, all the students were invited by Pujya Swami Chidananda Saraswatiji from Paramartha Niketan to attend the traditional Arati held on the holy banks of Mother Ganga. At the end of the event Swamiji honoured our beloved Usha Devi, a devoted student of Guruji Shri B.K.S. Iyengar, who attracts students from all over the world, for her unrelenting contribution in the field of Yoga, an intricate part of our Vedic heritage. Pujya Swamiji also recognized the immense contribution of our revered Guruji Shri B.K.S. Iyengar for his scientific approach towards Yoga and making Yoga popular all over the world.
